Для начала загрузись в консоли в рековер мод, и задай следующее:
aticonfig --initial -f
Попробуй загрузится в нормальном режиме, если нет, то:
1. Что за машина/ноут?
2. прицепи/скопируй файл: /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Ну это мелочь, десктопные 3д эффекты будут недоступны. У него похоже видеодрайвер не на ту шину смотрит.

Остальное настроишь сам, только не забывай делать бэкап рабочего конфига перед "эксперементами"
